My Favorite Experience
I had many experiences that I could use as my favorite experience some that left a lasting impression, some that made me laugh so hard I cried, and some that hit so deeply it's almost impossible to find words to describe such an experience. This whole adventure taught me about myself as well as the world around me. If I had to choose one I would say, my favorite experience was the day we went to Dover Castle. It's a remarkable building the architecture is exquisite very refined. We spent the whole day there and walked around the castle exploring the area around us. I saw part of the White Cliffs of Dover they look like chalk almost as if you were to try and touch them they would tumble down and crumble into nothing, because it's weak even though in all actuality they would stay standing strong. We participated in a simulation using the tunnels the British used during World War II. Going here gave me a new insight on what Britain was like during World War II, in every history class I have attended I've always learned about what America went through during the war and to see how another country was affected and get somewhat of a better understanding the it, was amazing to me. I am so glad I got that experience Dover Castle is very large and has many different places to wonder to. You can walk up one set of stairs and it will divide off into many other sets as you continue working your way to the top. I am so surprised I didn't end up lost. It's also very gorgeous and I could spend hours looking at it, in fact I framed the picture I took of it that you see in the upper corner. It's a fabulous place one that I am happy I got to experience and I hope that one day I will be able to return and see the whole castle as well as all of the White Cliffs.
History is my favorite subject in school, I find it fascinating and fun to learn about. These are events and moments that really happened to people just like me and from learning about it and taking the time to read what people went through I have a greater knowledge and understanding for the world around me and what my ancestors went through. To have this hands on experience that I had intensified and gave me a better understanding for the things I spent all semester trying to learn and understand. Another part of this study abroad that I would say was one of my favorites was trying to learn the public transportation system. That was probably the hardest thing for me to be able to do, I don't know London I have never been there before so this new system of transportation was very intimidating. Nevertheless I got through it and I learned where many different places are and how to get there on my own. I feel very confident that if I were to ever go back I would be able to pick it up twice as fast.
